Update:  COVID-19:  Where are we now?
We hope everyone is staying healthy and safe.  This is what we are doing here at Salmo Community Services:
Most of our services are still available through phone and email or Zoom contact.  These include Family Support, Adult Mental Health and Substance Use Support, Child and Youth Mental Health Outreach, CAPC – Children 0-6, PEACE – Children and Youth, Stopping the Violence and Safe Homes, Police Based Victim Services and Food Security.

We have added the social distancing protocol to the enhanced cleaning and hand washing practices.   Staff schedules have been adjusted to have fewer people in our buildings at one time.
 
We are developing a Seniors Friendly Caller Program if you know a senior who may want a wellness check or help with groceries/medication delivery, etc., please call our office 250-357-2277 or email helen@scrs.ca
 
Groups are resuming but will look different as we need to keep our participants safe.  We are introducing smaller groups and an afternoon group on Tuesdays.  Please note the following changes: 

*Baby Group – SVYCC – Groups for children under 1 year, Tuesdays, 10:00-11:30 am, maximum of 4 families
*  Adult Relapse Prevention – Tuesday afternoons – no drop ins, call ahead to register
*  Ymir Play Group 
-morning birds – Tuesdays 10:00 – 11:15 am – maximum of 5 families
-Poppies – Tuesdays 1:00-2:15 pm – maximum of 5 families
*  Parent and Tot
-Wednesdays 10:00 – 11:30 – no childminding – maximum of 4 families
-Thursdays 10:00-11:30 – no childminding – maximum of 4 families

We strive to find creative ways to provide support for the many unique needs this crisis has created as well as for the other issues that continue to impact peoples’ lives despite an active pandemic.
 
The staff, volunteers, and management of SCRS are working to promote everyone’s health and wellness.  We wish you the best of health.

Telephone messages will be checked daily (Monday – Thursday) and requests will be prioritized. Counsellors will be managing individual sessions as needed.

TO ALL FOODBANK PARTICIPANTS OF SALMO COMMUNITY SERVICES

To prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19 and provide food for people in need, Salmo Community Services procedures are as follows:

FOODBANK Hours will remain

Wednesdays

9:30 am – 11:45 am

We encourage you to phone ahead (1 week) to secure an appointment time for the Wednesday Foodbank

Are you new to this program? Please call 250-357-2277 and leave a message and staff will follow-up to register you and your family.

-Eligible Participants will be greeted at the front door and a worker will register the participant.

-Please follow the directions posted outside the office.  

-The building is closed to the public, you will be asked to wait outside for your box of food.
